Who we are
Evangelical Students is a non-denominational group of Christian university students who meet together at Adelaide University, UniSA City East and UniSA City West.
We are a member of the Australian Fellowship of Evangelical Students (AFES) - a national organisation working with churches to encourage and equip Christians for life and evangelism on campus. We are also affiliated with Adelaide Uni's Clubs Association and UniSA's UniLife.
Evangelical Students is a student-led organisation that is supported by a number of employed staff-workers.
Our 2012 student executive includes Nick van Ruth (Adelaide President), Ada Chan (Adelaide Vice President), Michael Waskiel (Adelaide Vice President), Kathryn Schroeder (Adelaide Treasurer), Sasha Zadoyanchuk (Adelaide Secretary), Annika Hamdorf (City East President) and Stewart Thomas (City West President).

Our current staff-workers are Geoff Lin, Dave Brown, Laura Maddock, Lauren Humphrys and James Foley.

What we believe
Christian Gospel
The message at the heart of Christianity is really quite simple - simple enough to be outlined in just a few pages. It is a message from the Bible about God and his son, Jesus. It is about life and death, and the choice that we all face.

Doctrinal Basis
Evangelical Students upholds the fundamental truths of the Christian faith, including:
The Divine Inspiration and infallibility of the Holy Scripture as originally given and its supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
The Unity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit in the Godhead.
The universal sinfulness and guilt of human nature since the Fall, rendering humanity subject to God's wrath and condemnation.
Redemption from the guilt, penalty and power of sin only through the sacrificial death, as our Representative and Substitute, of Jesus Christ, the incarnate Son of God.
The conception of Jesus Christ by the Holy Spirit and His birth of the Virgin Mary.
The bodily Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the Dead.
The necessity of the work of the Holy Spirit to make the death of Christ effective in the individual sinner, granting that person repentance toward God and faith in Jesus Christ.
The indwelling and work of the Holy Spirit in the believer.
The expectation of the personal return of Jesus Christ.
We are a non-denominational Christian group and therefore only insist on these core elements of biblical Christian belief.
What we do
Evangelical Students runs all sorts of different activities and events, but in one way or another they all aim to grow students in each of these three ways:
1. Personal faith in Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord
2. Personal growth in godliness
3. Personal witness at home and abroad
Some of the key things we do are evangelism, bible study, prayer, training, camps, conferences and social events.
Check out 'Activities' and 'Events' in the website menu to find out more. You might also like to view our calendar to see what events we've got scheduled for the rest of the year.
Why you should get involved!
Here's what James, a City West graduate, has to say about Evangelical Students:
Getting involved with Evangelical Students is, in my opinion, the best thing you can do while you’re at uni.
During my three years at ES, I personally grew so much in my faith, godliness and witness. My experiences have prepared me well for a life of following Christ, serving him at church, and witnessing to others.
Some people think that being involved in their church is all they need (in terms of spiritual input and friendships), but I found that being fed from both church and ES was truly beneficial.
Involvement in ES is not only about what you can receive, but also what you can give, with great opportunities for serving God and developing leadership skills. I was privileged to lead a Bible Study Group on my campus, as well as to lead the team that organised Mid Year Conference. There are many areas within ES in which students can play a role.
One of the other significant benefits of ES is that you get to meet fellow Christian uni students and build friendships that will last a lifetime. It’s comforting to know that you’re not the only Christian at your uni. Walking around campus and seeing familiar faces from ES is a real encouragement to continue living in a way that points your classmates and friends to Jesus. Starting at uni can be quite intimidating, so for me, getting involved in ES and connecting with other Christians at uni was a huge help in finding my feet on campus.
I hope you decide to become a part of ES! I'm sure you'll join the many thousands of people who remember ES as the highlight of their uni lives. One final tip: Mid Year Conference is seriously good. Don't miss out on it!
